Underground Profiles: Athensville

Athensville awakens a 90s style sound not heard in years. Bridging on a strong list of influences, the most notable and direct parallel tends to be a rich REM influence. Sounds however inferred through melodies and guitar overlays build concise and full bodied indie rock tracks. One thing you’ll notice about Athensville is the accessibility of their music.  Sepulveda Sunset, arguably the most intriguing song attached to their current EP, Proper, illustrates the depth of talent within Athensville that can be overlooked due to the perceived simplicity by a casual listener.

Athensville’s recorded their recent EP, Proper, at Morning Star Studios with 2 time Grammy Award Winning Producer, Glen Barratt. In their Original Slacker Podcast interview, the band recalls the diligence and precision required to record with a talented producer, such as Barratt.
